1. 下面哪一句是 comma splice?(a) “Because it rained, we stayed in.” (b) “It rained, we stayed in.” (c) “It rained, so we stayed in.”
Show answer
(b)。 “It rained” 和 “we stayed in” 都是完整句子,只用逗号连在一起。(a) 中 “Because it rained” 不能独立成句,(c) 中连词 “so” 正确地连接了两个分句。
The shop was closed, we went to the market instead.”
Show answer
句号:“The shop was closed. We went to the market instead.” 连词:“The shop was closed, so we went to the market instead.” 从句也可以:“Because the shop was closed, we went to the market instead.”
3. 给这句话加标点:are you ready asked Mr Lim
Show answer
“Are you ready?” asked Mr Lim.
I’ll be there at six,” she said “don’t start without me.”
Show answer
“I’ll be there at six,” she said. “Don’t start without me.”
Wearing a bright yellow coat, the crowd easily spotted the cyclist.”
Show answer
写成 “Wearing a bright yellow coat, the cyclist was easily spotted by the crowd.” 另一种好的改法:“The crowd easily spotted the cyclist, who was wearing a bright yellow coat.”
6. 告示写着 “We only have two tickets left.”。
Show answer
“We have only two tickets left.”
Priya was tired. She finished the map. She wanted to give it to her group.”
Show answer
一种好的写法:“Although Priya was tired, she finished the map because she wanted to give it to her group.”
The match went ahead. Although the pitch was still wet.”
Show answer
“Although the pitch was still wet” 不能独立成句。把它接上去:“The match went ahead although the pitch was still wet.” 或者放在前面:“Although the pitch was still wet, the match went ahead.”
The market opened at dawn. Traders arrived. They set up stalls. They shouted prices. A cat slept under a table. Nobody noticed it.”
Show answer
一种好的写法:“The market opened at dawn, and as traders arrived and set up their stalls, the air filled with shouted prices. Under one table, a cat slept. Nobody noticed.”
Running down the platform, the doors closed, Hana groaned “I missed it”.
Show answer
Running down the platform, Hana saw the doors close. She groaned, “I missed it.”
