A redundant phrase repeats a meaning the sentence already carries. Chinese writers often add a second word for safety, but the reader hears the echo.

What does redundancy look like?
Three patterns appear again and again:

In each row the second word adds no new fact.
Worked example
Invented sentence for practice: 我们大家一起共同合作完成了这件事情。
Step 1, underline phrases that sound alike in meaning. 大家 and 一起 and 共同 and 合作 all say “together”.
Step 2, decide which fact the reader needs. The reader needs: we cooperated and finished the job.
Step 3, keep the single strongest word. 合作 already means “work together”.
Step 4, check 事情. 这件事 says the same and is lighter.
Repaired sentence: 我们合作完成了这件事。
Facts kept: who (我们), what (完成), how (合作), what job (这件事). Several words went, no meaning did.
The mistake to watch for
Students told to “cut” sometimes remove a word that carried a fact.
Mistaken cut: 我们完成了这件事。
The cooperation, which the question asked about, is lost.
Before deleting, ask: if this word disappears, does the reader lose information? Two words meaning together are redundant. The only word that says how you did it is not. Cut the echo, never the fact.
