Online one-to-one IGCSE tuition here has four steps: enquire on WhatsApp, have an experienced teacher assigned, attend a paid one-hour trial from RM80, then decide together what comes next. You see the teaching before you decide on anything more.

This page explains each step, what you will be asked, and how to prepare. The tuition overview gives the wider picture.

Step 1: How does the WhatsApp enquiry work?

Every tuition page has a WhatsApp button. Tapping it opens a prepared message that names the subject and the page you were reading, and asks the team to confirm the assigned teacher’s rate for a paid one-hour trial. You can edit it before you send.

WhatsApp is the only enquiry channel. Tapping the button starts a conversation, and nothing is booked or billed until you agree.

In that conversation, tell us the subject and level, and what is going wrong in one or two lines. “I can follow the class but lose marks on six-mark questions” is more useful than “help with Biology”.

Step 2: How is a teacher assigned?

An experienced teacher is assigned to you based on your subject, level and what you have described. The aim is a teacher who can explain at the right level, so the more specific you are, the easier that is. If the teacher is not a good fit, a different teacher can be assigned.

You can mention a schedule constraint or a learning need such as being shy about basic questions. These are discussed in the conversation and confirmed before the lesson. Lessons are explained mainly in English, whatever the language of the page you are reading, and language subjects are taught in that language.

Teachers come from our teaching team, and the assignment process is explained in how a teacher is assigned.

Step 3: What happens in the paid trial?

The trial is a one-hour, one-to-one taught lesson at the assigned teacher’s confirmed rate, starting from RM80. You learn the rate before the lesson, and the lesson runs on your own questions.

Preparing two sticking points makes a real difference. The trial agenda builder produces a printable plan in a few minutes, and the trial page explains what the hour usually covers and how to judge it.

Step 4: What happens after the trial?

You and the teacher talk about whether and how to continue. Ongoing lessons continue at the same rate as the trial, the schedule and frequency are arranged with the teacher, and continuing is your decision.

The post-trial reflection guide helps you sort your impressions into understanding, communication and next-step clarity. After the trial covers the choices in more detail.

Will my setup work for online lessons?

In most homes, after a few checks. The online-lesson readiness check gives a practical checklist, but these are the essentials:

  • A device. A laptop or tablet is easiest. A phone can work if you can read questions and show writing clearly.
  • A connection. Test it at the time of day you plan to study. If it drops, tell the teacher and agree a fallback such as audio only.
  • Showing written working. A camera aimed at paper, a tablet with a pen, or a shared screen. Decide before the lesson.
  • Sound. Headphones help. If you cannot use a microphone, raise it in advance so the arrangement can be discussed.
  • A reasonably quiet space. If you share a room or a device, say so. A workable arrangement is better than an ideal one you cannot have.

Boarding students should check their school’s rules on device use and study periods before proposing a time. Lessons need to fit what your school allows.

What if I am not in a big city?

Lessons are online and the service covers the whole of Malaysia, so you do not need a local centre. Students in Sabah and Sarawak study on the same Malaysian time as everyone else in the country. See the Malaysia section for state pages with practical notes.

What if I am embarrassed about basic questions?

Students often hold back in class because the question feels too basic. In a one-to-one lesson there is nobody to perform for, and a good teacher treats the basic question as the useful one, because it is usually where the gap starts.

If you would like to start gently, say so in your enquiry. The first lesson can begin from a question you have prepared.

What if the exam is close?

Tell us the exam date at the start, and be honest about what has already been covered. A teacher can help you sort what is worth fixing in the time left and what can safely wait. Nothing can replace practice you do yourself, and a teacher cannot promise a grade, but a realistic plan is better than trying to revise everything.

Questions about entry, deadlines and access arrangements belong to your exam centre and Cambridge. See exam administration for who is responsible for what.

Who handles the exam side?

We teach. Your school or exam centre registers you, and Cambridge issues results. If you are a private candidate, the exam centre you choose is your contact for entry questions, and private candidates and exam centres points you to what to ask.

Where next?

Read what a paid trial involves, choose your subject in the subject directory, or go straight to WhatsApp from any tuition page when you are ready.

If you are still deciding, IGCSE tuition explained covers what tuition can and cannot do.

Questions people ask

What do I need to tell you in my first message?

Your subject, your level (for example Year 10 or Form 4) and what is going wrong. The prepared message is already editable and contains only public context. Extra details such as preferred days can wait for the conversation.

How long until a teacher is assigned?

The team replies on WhatsApp and arranges the assignment with you in the conversation. Availability differs by subject. Tell us early if an exam date is close, so the timing can be planned realistically.

Can I ask for lessons in another language?

Lessons are explained mainly in English, because Cambridge IGCSE is examined in English. Language subjects such as Malay, Chinese, French and English are taught in that language. The pages on this site are available in English, Malay and Chinese.

What device do I need?

A phone can work for a trial, but a laptop or tablet makes it easier to show written working and read questions. The readiness check lists options, including what to do if you share a device or have patchy internet.

Which platform do lessons use?

The team confirms the lesson platform with you on WhatsApp before the trial.

What if I miss a lesson or want to change something?

For the trial, raise it with the team on WhatsApp as early as you can. For later lessons, schedules and changes are agreed directly between you and the teacher.
