We teach Cambridge IGCSE Biology online, one to one, to students anywhere in Malaysia. After your WhatsApp enquiry we assign an experienced teacher to your child, and they begin with a paid one-hour trial at that teacher’s confirmed rate, starting from RM80. The rate is confirmed with you before the lesson.

Further lessons continue at the same rate as the trial; schedule and frequency are arranged with the teacher. The trial is a taught class where your own answers and questions are the material.

Who is this Biology tuition for?

It suits the student who has read the chapter, can label the diagram, and still loses marks when the question asks “explain”. The terms are there, but the chain that joins them is missing.

You might recognise yourself in one of these situations:

  • Your answers are a string of keywords. The keyword list without a mechanism guide describes this habit.
  • You mix up diffusion, osmosis and active transport under exam pressure. See telling the three movements apart.
  • You can label a cell or an organ, yet cannot say why its structure suits its job. See structure and function.
  • You read a table or graph and write that one thing “causes” another, when the data only show they go together. See causation in data.
  • You memorise a process as a paragraph, and one forgotten word breaks the whole answer. See linking the steps.
  • A parent sees long revision hours but flat marks, and wants the time spent on the right gap.

This page is written for both of you. The student does the thinking in the lesson, and the parent decides whether the trial is worth trying.

What can individual teaching do that notes cannot?

Notes hold the content. A teacher can watch how you turn it into an answer and find the exact sentence where the reasoning stops.

In Biology that point is rarely “I never learned the term”. It is usually a missing link: what moves, where, why, and what that changes.

Here is an original example of how that looks in a lesson.

The investigation. Identical potato cylinders, each 2.50 g at the start, are left in sucrose solutions for one hour, dried gently and weighed again.

Sucrose solutionFinal massChange in mass
0.0 M (pure water)2.80 g+12%
0.4 M2.45 g−2%
0.8 M2.15 g−14%

The question. Explain the results, and estimate the concentration that matches the inside of the potato cells.

A student’s first attempt. “Osmosis, water potential and cell membrane. The potato gains water in pure water and loses water in strong sucrose.”

Every word is correct, and it would still earn little. The teacher asks the student to draw the process as a short diagram and to say each arrow aloud.

The diagram, step by step.

  1. Inside the potato cells the solution has a certain concentration of dissolved substances, so a certain water potential.
  2. In pure water, the outside has a higher water potential than the inside. Water molecules move into the cells through the partially permeable membrane, down the water potential gradient. This is osmosis.
  3. The cells take in water, so the cylinder gains mass: +12%.
  4. In 0.8 M sucrose the outside has a lower water potential than the inside. Water moves out of the cells, so the cylinder loses 14%.
  5. Between the two results there is a concentration where there is no net movement, because the inside and the outside match.

Using the evidence. The mass change goes from +12% to −2% between 0.0 M and 0.4 M, a drop of 14 percentage points over 0.4 M. Assuming a straight line between those points, the change reaches 0% after 12 ÷ 14 of the way, which is 0.4 × 12 ÷ 14 ≈ 0.34 M. The estimate depends on that straight-line assumption, and a result at 0.2 M and 0.6 M would test it.

The check. At 0.4 M the cylinder lost a little (−2%), so the inside must be slightly weaker than 0.4 M. An estimate of 0.34 M agrees. The answer, the data and the diagram all say the same thing.

The lesson is the link. The vocabulary was never the problem, because the student had every word. What was missing was the direction of movement, the reason for it, and the number that shows it.

You can practise the pieces in movement across membranes and Biology data and investigations.

Where does tuition reach its limits?

A teacher cannot sit your paper and cannot replace the practice you do between lessons. Progress depends on you trying questions alone, then bringing the stuck points to the lesson.

Some practical boundaries:

  • Registration, entry, results and access arrangements belong to your school or exam centre and to Cambridge.
  • Practical and assessed work must remain yours. A teacher can teach the method and the reasoning, not produce your results.
  • Syllabus scope depends on the exam year and your entry. Check the current Cambridge page and our 0610 code and exam-year guide before lessons begin.
  • Self-study may be enough if your gaps are occasional forgotten facts. Flash cards, the terminology guide and a few original practice sets can repair those.

How does it work, from enquiry to trial?

  1. Enquire on WhatsApp. Tell us you want Biology, your year and the topics or question types that trouble you. You do not need to send marks or papers.
  2. We assign a teacher. An experienced Biology teacher is assigned to you, and we confirm that teacher’s rate for the paid one-hour trial, starting from RM80.
  3. Prepare a short agenda. The one-hour trial agenda builder helps you pick two sticking points, so the hour goes on your real difficulty.
  4. Take the trial. It is taught, one to one, online. Bring a question you could not explain well.
  5. Reflect, then decide. The post-trial reflection guide separates understanding, communication and clarity about next steps. Further arrangements are discussed directly with the teacher.

The full process is on the trial page and in how tuition works.

Will the teaching build explanations, or only a longer list?

You can test this in the trial, because explanations are visible. Ask the teacher to work through a process aloud, and listen for three things.

  1. Do they name what moves or changes, and in which direction, before using a term?
  2. Do they tie each step to the step before it with a reason, such as “because” or “so”?
  3. Do they go back to the data in the question and quote a number or a trend from it?

In the trial, bring one six-mark style question you answered and were unsure about. Watch whether the teacher rebuilds it as a chain, as in the potato example, instead of handing you a model answer to memorise. Biology marks go to a correct mechanism that answers the question asked, not to the longest paragraph.

Where to go next

Start with the Biology learning guide for the full topic map and a study order. Then pick the module that matches your gap:

If you are still weighing things up, read considering Biology tuition for a fair look at self-study, group classes and one-to-one. To plan the first hour, read choosing a useful lesson focus. Then message us on WhatsApp with the topic where your explanations break down, and we will assign a teacher for the paid trial.

Questions people ask

How much does the Biology trial cost?

The paid one-hour trial starts from RM80. The exact rate is the assigned teacher's confirmed rate, and we tell you that rate on WhatsApp before the lesson. It is a real taught class, not a chat about the syllabus. Fees continue at the same rate as the trial; schedule and frequency are arranged with the teacher.

Do I choose my Biology teacher?

No. After your enquiry we assign an experienced teacher for your level and needs. You tell us your syllabus, your year and the topics or question types that worry you, and we use that to decide. After the trial you can talk with the teacher about how lessons should continue.

Will tuition just give me a longer list to memorise?

It should do the opposite. A good Biology lesson asks you to explain a process in your own words, link each step to the one before, and use evidence from a table or graph. Facts still matter, but they are arranged into explanations you can rebuild instead of recite.

Can the teacher do my practical or assessed work for me?

No. Your work must stay your own, and your school or exam centre decides how practical assessment is handled. A teacher can explain how to plan an investigation, record results, draw a graph or state a limitation, using original examples, so you can do the real task yourself.

Is this suitable for both Core and Extended Biology students?

Yes, the teaching follows the question you are facing, whichever route your school or exam centre entered you for. Check the current syllabus and your entry details on the Cambridge Biology 0610 page, then tell the teacher so lessons stay inside the right scope.

Can I have a free explanation of one Biology question first?

No. The trial is a paid, taught hour so a teacher can spend real time on your work. The lessons, practice and difficulty guides on this site are open for you to use at any time.
