This set mixes the five skills in foreign-language reading and writing: finding conditions, covering points, linking, marking time and checking. All texts are original and invented for practice. Chinese stays in Simplified characters with pinyin on some lines.
Work in order, easy to harder. Write your answer first, then open the explanation. The summary selection and paraphrase studio, the writing revision compare view and the audience register and purpose planner are useful companions.
Notice for questions 1 to 3
图书馆通知 图书馆星期一到星期五下午三点到六点开放。借书要带学生证。如果书过期不还，每天罚款一块钱。只有会员才能借电脑。

1. What must you bring to borrow a book?

2. A book is four days overdue. How much is the fine?

The condition 如果书过期不还 is true. The fine is 一块钱 per day (each day). Four days × one unit = 四块钱 (4 units).

4. A prompt says: tell your cousin (1) when you will arrive, (2) which train you will take, (3) what you want to eat. How many points does your message need, and which sentence below is not a point? A. 我星期五晚上到。 B. 我坐八点的火车。 C. 今天天气很热。 D. 我想吃鱼。

Three points. A covers when, B covers the train, D covers food. C is not a point; it is extra detail that answers nothing in the prompt.
5. Write a message of three or four sentences to a neighbour that covers: (1) you will hold a small party on Saturday, (2) the time, (3) a request to keep the noise low. Use a polite tone.

Check: party (1), time 三点到五点 (2), noise (3), polite 您. Any version that covers the three points in a polite tone is acceptable.

Past and planned events

9. Correct this sentence and explain the fault: 昨天我打算去海边。

昨天 is past, but 打算 shows a plan. Fix by choosing one time: 昨天我去了海边 (finished) or 我昨天打算去海边，可是下雨了 (a plan that did not happen). A time word and a marker must agree.

The task pass: tick each requested point from the prompt. A missing point is the costliest gap, and tidy characters cannot fix it. Then use any time left for time words, connectors and characters. Check the confirmed Cambridge guidance for your own task before you rely on any length rule.
