Students in Perak can study Cambridge IGCSE one to one, online, with an experienced teacher assigned to them. Your child joins from home or a hostel, in whichever Perak town you live.
The service is the same as across Malaysia. This page covers studying from Perak.
Which parts of Perak do we serve?
Perak has thirteen districts: Batang Padang, Manjung, Kinta, Kerian, Kuala Kangsar, Larut dan Matang, Hilir Perak, Hulu Perak, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Muallim, Bagan Datuk and Selama.
Students join from towns such as Ipoh, Taiping, Manjung, Sitiawan, Teluk Intan, Kampar, Kuala Kangsar, Tapah, Batu Gajah, Parit Buntar and Gerik. All lessons are online, so your town makes no difference.
Why can distance be a real problem in Perak?
The state is long, and its towns are spread out towards the northern border. Ipoh in Kinta is the state’s largest city, but a student in Gerik in Hulu Perak, Parit Buntar in Kerian or Teluk Intan in Hilir Perak does not live a short drive from it.
If the nearest in-person class for a Cambridge subject is in another town, travel can eat the evening before the lesson even begins. Online lessons remove that trip. Students in smaller towns can also choose the subject that matters to them, not the one taught locally.
A sensible way to use your first lesson
The trial is one hour, so pick one subject and one problem.
- Choose the subject where you feel most stuck, not the one you enjoy most.
- Bring one or two pieces of recent work, such as a marked test or a past-paper attempt.
- Note two or three questions you could not finish or did not understand.
- Tell the teacher how you study now, so the lesson starts where you are.
The one-hour trial agenda builder helps you organise these. Afterwards, the post-trial reflection guide helps you decide what to do next.
Preparing your setup
Sit where you will study, open a video call for ten minutes and watch for dropouts. If your home connection varies in the evening, have a second option such as a mobile hotspot ready.
Keep pen, paper and a charger within reach. The online-lesson readiness check gives you a short checklist.
Boarding and residential schools
Perak has a number of schools where students live on site during term. If you are one of them, ask the school or warden about device use, internet access and quiet study rooms before arranging lessons.
Weekend or school-holiday slots may suit you well. You and your assigned teacher agree timing after the trial.
What your exam centre decides
We teach the subject, and your exam centre enters you for exams. Registration, fees, deadlines, the exam venue and access arrangements belong to your school or exam centre and to Cambridge.
- Ask which series your centre offers for your subject.
- Ask whether it accepts external candidates if you are not at a school that runs Cambridge.
- Ask where any practical or speaking component is held.
The private-candidate readiness checklist lists what to confirm. The exams and entry guide explains the route.

How do you begin?
Begin with a paid one-hour trial at your assigned teacher’s confirmed rate, from RM80. The exact rate is confirmed before the lesson, and it is a real taught class.
Enquire on WhatsApp with your subject, year and the topic you want to work on. Ongoing lessons continue at the same rate, and the schedule is agreed with the teacher after the trial. See how it works and the trial for the steps.
9,000+ students have been helped through our service across Malaysia. Nearby state pages: Pulau Pinang, Kedah, Selangor and Pahang.
