“From RM80” means the paid one-hour trial lesson starts at RM80. The actual rate is the assigned teacher’s rate, and it is confirmed with you before the lesson takes place. It is not a fixed price for every teacher, but ongoing lessons continue at the same rate as the trial.
This page explains the wording, so you can decide with the real number in front of you.
What does the trial include?
The trial is one hour of individual teaching on Cambridge IGCSE work, online, with an experienced teacher assigned to your child. It is a taught class. The teacher works on your child’s own questions, watches how they reason and explains where the gap is.
It is paid because it is a real lesson, not a sales chat. It gives you enough to decide whether one-to-one lessons suit your child.
Why is the price “from” and not fixed?
Teachers on our team set their own rates, which can differ with subject and experience. A single fixed price would be wrong for some teachers. So we say where the rates begin and confirm the real figure for the teacher assigned to your child.
This means the number you see in the confirmation is the number that applies. The trial rate guide lists what to check when it arrives.
What does “from RM80” not tell you?
Being clear about the limits helps you plan:
- It does not mean every teacher charges RM80.
- It does not describe packages, schedules or how often lessons would run.
- It does not commit you to a second lesson.
After the trial, ongoing lessons continue at the same rate, and the schedule, frequency and support are arranged between the student and the teacher. Those depend on the student’s needs and the teacher’s availability.
How do you read the confirmed rate?
When the rate arrives, check three things: the amount for one hour, the subject and level it applies to, and the time of the lesson. Keep the message so both sides can refer to it.
The one-hour trial agenda builder helps you prepare an agenda. It also reminds you to check the teacher’s actual rate before the lesson.
How does it compare with other options?
Compare by value per hour rather than by headline price. A group class may cost less per student, but the teacher’s attention is shared. Individual help costs more per hour, but the hour is shaped around one student’s gaps.
Cheaper is not better if it does not address what is going wrong, and dearer is not better if the student does not need that depth. See when self-study can be enough and the one-to-one and group comparison for a fair view.
What should you do before booking?
- Name one or two topics the student is stuck on.
- Decide your rough budget for a single trial hour.
- Ask for the confirmed rate in writing and read it before agreeing.
- Prepare the student’s questions so the hour is used well.
Our trial page sets out the steps, and how the service works explains what happens from your first message to the lesson. If you are still deciding whether individual tuition is right, the decision guides cover the other common questions.
