Students in Terengganu can have online one-to-one Cambridge IGCSE tuition at home. A teacher is assigned to your child and lessons run over video.

One practical point sets Terengganu apart: the weekend falls on Friday and Saturday, and the school week runs from Sunday to Thursday. Plan lessons from that, because a “weekend lesson” means different days here than in a state with a Saturday and Sunday weekend.

Which districts and towns do we serve?

Students join from across Besut, Dungun, Kemaman, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Hulu Terengganu, Setiu and Kuala Nerus. The towns most often mentioned are Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus, Dungun, Kemaman, Marang, Besut and Setiu, and the lesson works the same way in each.

The state stretches along the east coast from Besut in the north to Kemaman in the south, so distances between towns are long. Online, that long coast makes no difference to which teacher you can be assigned.

How do I plan lesson days around a Sunday to Thursday week?

List which days are school days and which are free. Friday and Saturday are the natural days for a longer revision session, while a school-day evening suits a shorter lesson on one topic.

A friend in another state may have a Saturday and Sunday weekend, so their lesson times may not suit you. Send your school’s actual timetable when you message us, so the teacher can suggest slots that fit. Check your school’s calendar for term dates and holidays.

Preparing for an online lesson

Try the online-lesson readiness check at the hour you plan to study. Coastal and rural areas can have weaker signal at some times of day, so keep a mobile hotspot as a second way to connect.

Sit where you can write freely, with paper and a pen. A phone camera pointed at handwritten working makes Maths and Science lessons much easier to follow.

When does a lesson make sense rather than self-study?

If you can fix your own mistakes from a mark scheme, self-study may be all you need. A teacher becomes useful when you read the answer and still do not see why yours was wrong.

Bring one such question to the trial. A teacher can ask you to explain your working aloud, find the exact step that went wrong and rebuild from there. Our guide to choosing between tuition options may help you decide.

What should I ask my exam centre?

Registration, entry, results and access arrangements belong to your school or centre and to Cambridge. Questions worth asking:

  • Which exam series am I entered for, and when does entry close?
  • If I am a private candidate, which centre will accept me and at what cost?
  • Where will any practical or speaking components be held?

The private-candidate readiness checklist helps you keep the answers together, and our exam guidance explains who does what.

Which IGCSE subjects can I study?

Each subject page explains how it is taught one to one.

Questions people ask

Does the school week in Terengganu affect lesson times?

It can. Terengganu schools run Sunday to Thursday, with Friday and Saturday as the weekend. Lesson times are agreed directly with your teacher after the trial, so tell them which days are school days and which are free, and plan from there.

Is there a branch in Kuala Terengganu or Kemaman?

The service is online only. Lessons are online and one to one, so students in Kuala Terengganu, Kemaman, Dungun, Besut and other districts join from home.

What does the paid trial cost?

The trial is a paid one-hour lesson starting from RM80, at the confirmed rate of the teacher assigned to you, and the rate is confirmed before the lesson. Ongoing lessons continue at the same rate, and the schedule is agreed with the teacher after the trial.
