Accounting keeps the code 0452, and Cambridge lists a 2027 to 2029 syllabus for it. The same code does not mean the content and assessment stay the same. Your exam centre confirms your exam year, and the Cambridge 0452 page shows the syllabus that covers it.
This page is part of the exam guide section. It shows you how to compare two syllabus years yourself, using Cambridge’s own documents.
Who is responsible for what?
- Cambridge publishes each syllabus, with its content and assessment structure.
- Your exam centre or school enters you for one exam year and tells you how your group is assessed.
- You and your family check that workbooks and practice belong to the same year.
We are a tuition team, not an exam centre. Your centre handles entry. We teach to the year and code you confirm.
What should you compare, step by step?
- Get your exam year from your centre and write it on the front of your file.
- Open the Cambridge 0452 page. Find the syllabus document for that year.
- List the content headings from your year’s syllabus, for example the topic names in the content section.
- Match your workbook’s contents against that list. Mark each topic as present, missing or surplus.
- Read the assessment section, including paper structure and what each paper asks.
- Read the 2027 to 2029 document if your year falls in that range, and the change notices.
The syllabus-version comparison viewer shows verified changes with their source and year. It never assumes two syllabuses match just because their names match.
A short worked example
Hafiz has a workbook with twelve chapters. He lists the topic headings from his year’s syllabus and finds eleven of them in the workbook. One workbook chapter has no matching heading.
He marks the extra chapter “ask teacher” instead of throwing it out. He also notes the missing heading and finds worked examples for it elsewhere. His revision list now follows the syllabus, not the workbook’s order.
What are the common mistakes?
Assuming the same code means the same course. Compare the documents for each year.
Trusting a summary of changes. Read the exact wording in the syllabus and note the page.
Skipping the assessment section. A topic can stay the same while the way it is tested changes. See the calculator rule check as one example of a paper-level rule to confirm.
Where next?
If you find gaps, take the list to your school teacher or exam centre first. They can confirm what you need for your year.
For each change, note whether it affects how you answer questions or only the order of topics. Only the first kind needs retraining.
The Accounting learning guide gives the topic map, and the 0452 code page summarises the code. If journal entries and adjustments still confuse you, Accounting tuition lets you work through them one-to-one with an assigned teacher.
